As one of the best ball-winning midfielders in the world and Maurizio Sarri’s first Chelsea signing respectively, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho look nailed on to start pretty much every Premier League fixture for the Blues this season – including their clash with Liverpool this Saturday.
But the other spot in the three-man midfield could still be up for grabs. Although Mateo Kovacic has come into the side and really impressed since his loan move from Real Madrid, the 48-cap Croatian international was a largely anonymous figure against the Reds at Anfield in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash.
Cesc Fabregas, albeit operating in the Jorginho role, enjoyed a far better evening and only missed out on an assist through some wayward finishing from Alvaro Morata, whereas Ross Barkley began the season in the starting XI so he’s clearly done something on the training pitch to impress Sarri.
Throw in a natural dislike for Liverpool as an Everton academy product and the England international could be a shrewd pick for the biggest test so far of Chelsea’s Premier League campaign. But, which midfielder would you select this weekend to partner Kante and Jorginho? Let us know by voting below…
