Liverpool fans were stunned on Monday when it emerged that Jurgen Klopp’s right-hand man Zeljko Buvac had left the club a matter of days before the team’s Champions League semi-final decider against Roma.
The Bosnian has been Klopp’s assistant manager since their days together at Mainz, but he will not finish the season with Liverpool.
The club have insisted that Buvac is on a leave of absence for personal reasons and his long-term role at Anfield has not been affected.
However, according to The Times, the tactician is a contender for the manager’s job being left vacant by Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer.

Buvac has never been a number one in the dugout before, but it is believed that he is the brains behind Klopp’s gegenpressing approach.
The coach already has a link to Arsenal given that he previously worked with the club’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat at Borussia Dortmund.
Numerous names about potential successors to Wenger have been flying around, and now the fans are digesting the Buvac rumours.
