Both players have been ruled out due to minor injuries, adding to the growing list of absentees in the squad as the team gears up for Euro 2025. However, Kirby was involved in training on Thursday, offering a positive sign regarding her recovery, but Kelly did not take part, raising further concerns.

Kirby has been in fine form since joining Brighton during the summer transfer window. In her 13 Women’s Super League appearances, she has scored five goals and provided two assists, proving to be a key asset for her club. Despite her recent performances, injuries have disrupted her international involvement. She was previously absent from England’s fixtures against Portugal and Spain in February, but her return for the Belgium double-header had been seen as a boost for Wiegman’s squad. Unfortunately, her latest setback has meant another stint on the sidelines.
WHAT WIEGMAN SAID
Speaking on the situation, Wiegman expressed her disappointment but remained hopeful that they could recover in time for the return leg in Belgium.
"We are still working towards Tuesday's game," she said. "It's really disappointing for them because they are in a very good place. It's disappointing for the team too. But as always, we prepare for the next steps and think about scenarios of who is ready to play and is ready to come in."
