Ever since Wilfried Zaha linked up with super-agent Pini Zahavi recently, the Israeli negotiator seems dead-set on finding his new client a move away from Crystal Palace.
In just a matter of days, Zahavi has been in discussions with Bayern Munich over the Ivory Coast international, with the Bundesliga giants seeing an offer to take the winger on loan until the end of the season rejected – you can see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter thought of that offer here.
Additionally, The Guardian also reported that Zahavi has been attempting to persuade Chelsea to make a move for the former Manchester United forward, while the agent – who has close ties with Roman Abramovich – is also trying to get Tottenham to resurrect their interest in the 27-year-old.
However, while Zaha’s new agent is clearly working hard to get his client away from Selhurst Park, it would be in Zahavi’s best interests from a personal aspect to wait until the summer until officially landing the winger a transfer.
Why?
Well, The Guardian also state that Unique Sports Management (USM) – who Zaha’s former agent Will Salthouse works for – would be due compensation if the Ivorian completed a move because he is still under contract with them for six more months.
In that case, why wouldn’t Zahavi wait until that period of time is over, so that he can make the maximum amount of money from Zaha’s exit from Crystal Palace?
Call yourself a Premier League expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?
There presumably wouldn’t be too much motivation on Zahavi’s part to fight tooth and nail against Palace’s £80m valuation to secure a deal now, only for a percentage of the transfer fee to end up in the hands of USM, who would’ve done no work in helping Zaha find a new club.
Of course, lay the foundations for a summer move now, but the Israeli would be wise to wait until the summer.
In other news, Dougie Freedman seems to be learning from previous deals to sign Michy Batshuayi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek after Palace entered discussions over a loan target…
