Three successive promotions have lifted the Red Dragons out of the National League and into the Championship. They have cleared every hurdle put in front of them so far, but the next challenge promises to be their biggest yet.
WHAT BEN FOSTER SAID
Ex-England international Foster, who helped Wrexham to the National League title in 2023, has told his of what happens next in North Wales: “I genuinely think within five years, Wrexham will be in the Premier League. Next season is so, so hard for Wrexham. Championship next season is so hard.
“They just need to consolidate for a year, maybe two, maybe three, but then I think they are going to be looking at, from this point onwards – a five-year period – we need to be challenging in five years’ time.”

Ben Tozer, another promotion-winning hero from Wrexham’s recent past, added on what Phil Parkinson and his board need to do in order to remain competitive: “They have to sign quality players. There will be ones that sadly have to go, because that is part and parcel of football.
“The gaffer will sign experienced players as well. You will need a couple of knowhows again. They have already got a few of them in the squad, which is lucky. It’s tough because they need to have a bit of an overhaul, but not crazy.”
