Lopez offered her thanks to her family after picking up the prize. She said in her acceptance speech: "Thank you to my family. I dedicate this to my mother, who watches over me from heaven and is protecting me so I can become a better person. I hope you're proud of me; I miss you. I also want to thank Real Madrid, where I took my first steps. I also want to thank the national team, and obviously I can't forget Barcelona, La Masia, its president… they've supported me and let me compete for the best team in the world at 16 years old. I want to send a little something to the pioneers of women's football. Thanks to them, I'm able to collect this award today."
